The first step in a hardwood floor refinish, also known as Sanding and Finishing, is to sand the stain and finish off of an existing hardwood floor, using a powerful floor sander, until the original bare wood is exposed. In all of our refinish projects, we use a vacuum dust containment system which eliminates nearly all of the dust produced in the sanding process. We also put plastic sheeting in place in order to protect areas and surfaces adjacent to the one being worked on. Our clients are pleasantly surprised to find how little dust they actually see.
After the floor is sanded, you will have the option to stain the floors to the color of your choice or simply to seal them, leaving their naturally beautiful color.
Finally, we apply the finish. We use the highest quality two-component water based polyurethane with fast drying times and very low VOC content. This ensures that the job is finished quickly and with minimal inconvenience to you, while maintaining the best possible air quality in your home.
When should you consider a Sand and Finish?
A Sand and Finish is the best option when the original finish of your hardwood is badly worn or when you would like to change the color of your floors.
